I woke up before Mindy, but because I was against the wall and under the double sheets. I was pinned! Now, I know why Mindy decided to put her bed so it would only touch the wall near the pillows, instead of in a corner like mine.
With a full bladder, I slid toward my pillow and folded my legs so I could clear my sheets and my comforter.
Then, all I had to do was crawl toward the footboard, which fortunately was easy to get over and land on my feet.
Sadly, this woke up Mindy, who yawned and wished me a good morning.
"It is morning, right?" She says, looking around.
"It is. It's 6:14," I say, looking at my alarm clock.
"What? On a Sunday? That's not morning, that's in the middle of the night," she says, turning over.
"We have to be up early to get to your house."
"Early is 9h30," she says.
"Billy will be there," I add.
"Fine. Give me until 7h00, then," but she says it weakly, and by the time I leave my room, she is asleep.
I realize I am the only one awake, so after emptying my bladder, I get to Animal Crossing, making sure to mute the TV.
Even the game knows it's early at night, late at night. Darn. Ok, fine, I don't recall if in Animal Crossing City Folk it was at night or during the day that early in the morning. It's not like I often played that early, and it was seven years ago!
Still, I fished, I captured some bugs, and in both cases, I had new specimens for the museum and sold the rest for money.
I bought the merchandise in the store and sold most of them back discounted. Stupid raccoon. I did finally get a dresser, which I put in my house.
We had planted a bunch of fruits from Edith Thursday. I played Friday and a little Saturday, but this morning several were already bearing fruits!
I did what Edith taught me. I grabbed the fruits from half of them and chopped non-fruit-bearing trees to plant a foreign fruit in it.
After my last ax broke, I was left with a few fruits, which I left in my dresser. I returned to shore to collect shells and found a coconut!
I planted it as Edith suggested, and when on the lookout for the lucky rock, the one that if you hit with a shovel, gives you increasing money for each hit. What is rough is that the rock bounces you back after each rock so that you lose time on the last few hits.
Edith taught us to put holes behind us, but it's slow.
I did find it and got a lot of money. I checked my bank account, and I had enough to pay my first mortgage if I sold one foreign fruit. I do, and I am debt-free!
I play a little longer when I spot my mother leaving the master bedroom. As nude as I am. She smiles and sits next to me.
"Did you see my house?" She says, casually.
"Wait, you created a character?" I replied, surprised.
"I did. I am in the upper left portion of the map. I am still doing the tutorial, I think."
"That's why I saw new flowers near the shop!" I replied, laughing.
"Yeah... Well, don't worry, Kiddo; I heard you girls about what to do each day. I won't pose problems."
"I am not sure yet what I want to do with the game. I like the museum, but the furniture is so ugly so far," I said.
And it's true... those I got initially were lackluster, and I had almost no space to put them anyway. I ended up loving the Regal series, but the blue set, which doesn't look good, ended up being my first completed set.
It's not like I could really choose: the new items are at random each day.
"Dad and I took a shower yesterday, but I don't think you did. Do you want to take one now or at Mindy's?"
"Can it wait until there? I'd like to shower outside again."
"Sure. It's not like we can do that at home," she says, smiling at me.
My mom left to make coffee, and as if on cue, my dad came into the kitchen as soon as my mom served herself a cup. They kissed, but my mother told my dad to go brush his teeth, that his breath stuck.
I smiled. He does have bad breath when you wake him up too early, often says my mother.
The two of them talked and laughed a little. I didn't listen; I was focused on my game so much that I realized that Mindy was awake only when she came back from the bathroom.
She grabbed a towel and sat next to me.
"Did you sleep well?"
I pause the game, telling her I did.
"No, keep going. It's a soothing game. I can totally see myself having a deep conversation while playing. I prefer more active ones, but hey, it helps to pass the time.
But I save soon enough, and we get dressed together in my room. At her suggestion, I only put on shorts and a t-shirt. Less clothing to gather when I get back. She puts on the same dress she had coming in.
"I only wore it like for a total of an hour," she says, but I realize I didn't wear much clothing the previous day either and probably wouldn't today.
The drive was short enough to not finish whatever conversation we were having, not long enough for me to recall what it was. It was some useless girl talk, most likely about school or clothing.
No need to stop at the reception desk, since my father made us members! We just could give our member number at the intercom and ride directly to Mindy's house, where Peter was outside, with a coffee.
I could see our previously rented cabin in the distance, but it wasn't ours this weekend. It appeared to be no one, as in September, the place was starting to be deserted.
Peter saluted us and asked Mindy if she slept well.
"I did, but I woke up far too early."
"Hey, Mom's going to make it up to you," he says.
We get inside and see that Clara is mixing a large batch of batter or something. Mindy runs to her and hugs her. Clara barely has time to put the bowl down on the counter.
"Sorry, Mom, for taking you for granted," she says.
Clara wipes her hands on a hand towel on the counter and then hugs her daughter back.
"I am not angry, Mindy. Not even disappointed. I just want you to be aware that as naturists, our lives have to be a little more private than other people. I am pleased to be nude with naturists, even when they are dressed, but textiles can be weird around us."
Mindy lets go of her mother.
"Billy and his father are naturists."
"I know, Mindy, but I have lines to draw, you know?"
"I do."
"You invited Edith, who isn't a naturist."
"I remember. Sorry, Mom."
"No, that's okay. Your dad and I made that choice before you were born. I didn't get dressed when the electrician came, and he was weird, you remember?"
"I do. Let's not call him again," says Mindy.
"I know a great one," says my dad.
"Good. We might need one again. We have a breaker that jumps sometimes for no reason."
The phone rings, and Clara moves a few feet to answer.
"Hello?"
A pause.
"Oh, hi!" says Clara, smiling.
Another pause.
"Is he with his son Billy? If so, yes, they are our guests for a party at my house."
A pause.
"I presume so. I won't be insulted if you charge them admission, but please let them come in. We will be with them during their whole stay."
A short pause, followed by "Thank you. I'll bring you pancakes, just to thank you," as she hangs up, she tells Mindy.
"Billy is arriving."
"Cool! Julie, let's go undress in my room," she said, pulling my hand, almost tearing my socket apart.
Clara laughed and offered coffee to my parents. I didn't hear their answer, but we did more than undress. Mindy checked her hair and brushed it. In fact, she checked her whole body but couldn't do anything about, well, anything.
"I wanted to shower before he arrived," says Mindy.
"I don't think he will mind," I tell her.
"I know, we'll shower with him," she says, excited.
Now, I want to set something absolutely clear. This was plain and innocent. We were 12 and 13. Don't you dare turn this into more.
When we left her room, my parents were as nude as Clara, Mindy, and I were, and Clara was starting to make her pancakes.
I quickly noticed how different the texture was from my father's pancakes. That's right, in my family, my mother was a sous-chef, but my father makes pancakes.
I guess they are thicker?
My parents, however, are in the process of joining Peter outdoors, so Mindy and I follow them and see a car approaching Mindy's house.
"That's Billy", says Mindy, all excited, as she begins to wave at him and is even more excited that he waves back.
My parents go to the driver's side of the car once parked, but Mindy and I go to the passenger side. I don't get to ever ride in the front, but Billy does.
We barely leave him room to open his door, but he is delighted to see us.
"I am so happy to see you again, Mindy."
"And Julie," says Mindy.
"Right, of course, you too," he says, but casually.
"Wow, your house looks like a house," he says.
"Of course, what else would it look like?" says Mindy, confused.
"One of those cabins," he says, pointing down the road. "Or a camper."
"Right. No, we have an actual house. So, are you keeping your clothes, or do you have something to hide?" Says Mindy, grinning.
And that was indeed a sexual reference. Sorry. Well, barely. Naturist women know about erections, of course. It happens, rarely, but it does. Mostly with teenage boys, and Billy is one.
"Oh right," he says, lifting his t-shirt and throwing it in the car.
I check, and James is speaking with my parents and presenting Peter to them. Unlike Billy, James doesn't appear to be in a rush to undress, but then again, he doesn't have a 13-year-old girl pushing him.
Instead, they walk to the house and get in. I noticed that James had a bottle of wine and a cardboard box. Peter now has the wine, and all four adults go inside.
By the time I look back at Mindy and Billy, well, Billy is nude, and Mindy grabs his hand to drag him inside.
I follow, but it's obvious that I am the third wheel.
Inside, Mindy and Billy almost run to her room. I look and see that James is talking to Clara, who has the box in her hands and is almost crying of joy.
"It's the least I could find on such short notice."
"It's just perfect. Wow", says Clara, but then my mother calls: "The pancakes."
And Clara just gives the box to her and removes the current batch and adds them to the large pile she has done.
And she isn't done yet!
My mother, however, proposes to help with the fruits, but I follow Mindy and Billy to Mindy's room.
When I get in, my best friend is already showing her crush the various pictures in the same tour I received when I first got there. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same words that Mindy practices, alone in her room.
Billy listens to her with attention, and when it comes to my picture with her as a kid, he looks at me and smiles. I smile back.
"You don't have any recent ones?" Says Billy.
"This one is from last year," says Mindy, pointing at one.
"Oh, never mind then."
But I understood. She wasn't as developed then.
"I have pictures from this summer!"
Billy seems interested, but we are called.
